Brief Hiatus

Well,
It's finals time, hence why I have been slow with the updates, also I am sure most of us are busy with our holiday projects! My cloth madness is still in effect and as soon as I get the few I am making finished I will be posting the patterns for them, hopefully before the holidays are over lol. Well I just wanted to make a short post and make it official that till finals are done I am on hiatus. If anyone wants to contribute or make posts while Im out please email me and I'll get you set up!

Cloth madness

I have been in love with knitting little cloths lately. I made up a simple pattern, I am sure I am not the first to do this pattern, but here it is. Makes a nice clean looking pattern in the front and a nice flat back.

CO 36 on size 7 needles.
knit 4 rows
row 1, and every odd row, knit 3, purl 30, knit 3
row 2, and every even row, purl 3, knit 30, purl 3
continue for 41 rows total
then knit 4 rows and cast off!

SUPER SIMPLE, and kind of fun! I like them to use as hot tea pot coasters.
Picture is coming.

WAAYYYY overdue post!

Well I know I have been really REALLY bad about posting and I swear now that I have reliable internet again that more posts will be coming. This week I am featuring one of our own members patterns!! Ms. Meghan Chaney and her really cute Ripple Scarf. Link to the pattern is here.
Picture is one of her finished products! If anyone wants to add their own pictures/patterns/blogs to the group and the blog just let me know! I want to branch this out to make this group more interactive, thinking of adding other contributors and moderators to make this a much better functioning blog. : D I will keep ya'll posted! Much Love,

going slow

As I mentioned in the previous post I am working on a project that's rather time consuming, I'm making a blanket with someones name in it, per the alphabet cloth patterns. So I thought this would be a great chance to see what other knitters have made and think would be a nice addition to the page. I know a few people have suggested patterns on the rav. page and I am going to look at them and see if I can't get a couple up here with our own members results! I will try to get this done by Monday, it would be sooner but the fall semester just started so it's back to the grind.
Lots of love!!,

Alphabets!

Hey there everyone! I just wanted to add a great little pattern on here for ya'll, since I haven't been able to get much free time this week. I appreciate all the new members on the Raverly page and just want to extend a welcome to everyone!!! Going to be a slow week for the blog, I have a lot on my plate but I am looking for more patterns to put up on here! I am looking for free, simple patterns that you really enjoyed doing. Anyway with out further ado.... This Weeks Pattern!
I found this great little website for mainly dish clothes, I am also including a link to the alphabet clothes. These patterns are great for learning how to make letter, or other simple designs, in your knitting. I made the "S" cloth and I am going to finish off someone specials name for a blanket. Anyway give this site a good look over and happy knitting!
Have a great day!!!

First Pattern: Easy Cables!!

Hi everyone! Jennifer has graciously allowed us to post her pattern for her Easy Cable Scarf! You can click here for the link to the pdf. To the left there is my scarf. It was my first time trying cables and I found this pattern really easy to follow and easy to read. I never knew it was so easy to cable!
I suggest a stitch counter if you lose your place easily, like me lol, and a cable needle is nice but a double ended needle works just as well! Thank again to Jennifer for this great pattern, make sure you check out her Ravelry page for some of her other great patterns! Good luck everyone and keep an eye out for more patterns!

ravelry group

Well I got a group going over on Ravelry and hope to get a few followers and contributors soon! Come visit us there!!

TA DA

So, bear with me this is the first post. Hopefully we will have many more posts to come. Just to let you know what Ditzy Knits is all about. DK is here to help out fellow beginner knitters that want to do more then but don't know where to start. We are here to help newbies find, easy patterns that aren't boring, because we want to do more then baby blankets and basic knit scarves. We are here to point out the best patterns to help you learn the ropes as well as make something pretty that you will be proud to show off. IE-Stuff that looks impressive but was easy enough to make. We know new knitters want a challenge but don't want to feel like they are doing open heart surgery. So, give us a little bit of time to get a few patterns posted up here and visit me on Ravelry.com! Im trying to get a group started up there.
See ya'll around!!
Love,
Ditzy
